Classes

Each week your student will have a consistently scheduled one hour live lesson online with a small group of other North Carolina musicians of the same level and ability.  Each lesson will cover a set topic with specific resources.  The group setting allows each student to have input on the concept, demonstrate, and clarify any questions.  Every student will receive specific, individualized feedback on their in class performance as well as on video submissions each week. They grow and develop at their own pace!

In each class your student will find resources such as reference recordings (at different speeds!), technique building exercises, etudes and studies, annotated solos, links to additional resources, and SO MUCH MORE! In addition, if your student enrolls in one course, they automatically have access to ALL of the courses below!  Your student has immediate access to a wealth of information for doubling, learning another instrument, jazz improvisation...and can attend as many classes as they would like each week!

Unlike tradition private lessons, if your student is ill or has a schedule conflict, they will not miss their lesson!  Each session will be recorded and archived in the electronic classroom for reference at any time!  Beyond this, if they have any questions during the week, the virtual class has a chat in which the students can ask for support, answer questions for each other, post relative videos, or receive the same from their instructor.

Beyond the usual subject matter covered in lessons, will will also be discussing:

  • How to handle performance anxiety
  • Best practices for recording at home
  • How to become a better section player in an ensemble
  • Leadership through modeling in your band program

In addition to all of this, we will also be bringing in guest artists and clinicians once per term!  This will be an amazing chance for your student to meet and ask questions of professionals on their instruments who have travelled the world performing, appeared on television, movies, etc.
